HOW TO WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER.
Working smart can save you a lot of time and energy. When i was in high school i could see some of my classmates work too hard. They woke up very early and went to bed very late. I woke up later and went to bed earlier and still got better grades than them. So what’s the secret?
1. PRIORITIZE
Set your priorities straight. Make a list of things to accomplish before the end of the day. The following list is also called the priority matrix. Follow strictly in the following order;
A. Important and urgent
Do these tasks first. And try as much as possible to minimize such tasks. These tasks tend to have a lot of pressure and are of a stressful nature.
B. Important and not urgent
Do these tasks next to avoid them getting into the important and urgent section. This takes a lot of pressure off, prevents stress that would be encountered by procrastination and last minute work. This also prevents low performance due to the last minute rush.
C. Not important and urgent
Put these 3rd in your list mostly to protect your time. For example if a friend wants to see you urgently but the reason is not important, instead of going to see them in person you can call them and save some time.
D. Not important and not urgent
If it is possible eliminate the tasks on this list as they are serious time wasters. If it is not possible, you can delegate them or minimize the time you spend on them
You can use the priority matrix to work on your homework as well as your revision. It will help you spend less time and still come out on top.
2. LEARN TO SAY NO
Learn to say no where necessary. You need to understand that it is not possible to please everybody. Sometimes you have to say no to time wasting activities in order to accomplish your goal.
3. Â AVOID MULTI-TASKING
When you multitask you get less done. You need to focus on a task at a time, give it your best then move to the next one. Set a time limit to complete each set task and see to it that it is complete and done to the best of your ability.
There is a saying that goes, if you don’t have time to do it right then you don’t have time to it wrong.
4. AVOID PROCRASTINATION
As i have mentioned in the priority matrix, if a task is to be done then do it immediately. Avoid postponing to avoid last minute stress.
5. GET ENOUGH SLEEP.Â
Sleep is very important. Make sure you have at least seven hours of sleep each night. You want to start your day on a high note and not have to sleep in the middle of the day, during class time or work time.
This improves your efficiency. You are able to put your whole mind into your work hence spend less time on it.
